Never Waste A Crisis

Biggest Takeaways You Don't Want to Miss:
  • Crises are hard. But, they also present a unique opportunity to build something better -- if you can recognize the opportunities.
  • Bosses react to crisis. Leaders try to respond to crises. Builders transcend crises and Build.
  • People are not just looking to you to get them through this crisis, they are looking to you to help them imagine a future beyond the crisis.
  • We now have the opportunity to rebuild education. In fact, the “new normal” will be built by Builders IF we don’t waste the opportunities before us.

This week's mindstepsism isn't actually a mindstepsism at all. In fact, although I've heard this advice a lot over the last few weeks, I dismissed it as glib and opportunistic. I felt it ignored the real challenges many of us are facing right now.

But lately, I've been seeing just how applicable it actually is. In fact, there are 6 opportunities we have right now to not just help our schools survive, but actually thrive right now and in the days ahead. So on today's episode, I'm going to talk about those opportunities and share ways that you can make the best of this crisis #LikeABuilder.

  • Why the suspension of most standardized tests gives us an unprecedented opportunity to reshape how we teach.

  • Why we should be focusing on soft skills and SEL right now and what that will mean for students in the future.
